Neerim South has everything you need with schooling from kinder to secondary college at Mary-Beck Pre- School, Neerim South Primary School, Neerim District Secondary College all located in the centre of town.

The main street features the Neerim South Medical Clinic,  Neerim South Hotel, Hardware Store, Post Office, Vet Clinic,  Hair Dressers, Milk Bar, Five Aces Brewing Co, Bakery, Jindi Pig Butcher , Bendigo Bank , IGA Supermarket as well as Serigraph Art Gallery.  During the months of June, July and August the town also hosts the Neerim South Winter Market in the Algie Hall, featuring a wide variety of stall holders from the district.

The town is also home to the Neerim – Neerim South Football and Netball Club , Neerim District Cricket Club, Neerim District Tennis Club, Neerim Wolves Basketball Club, Neerim District Bowls Club  

The popular Rokeby-Neerim Rail Trail runs through the town of Neerim South, utilised by walkers, runners, mountain bikers and horse riders. The trail is 12.6km long and has stunning views along the way of the nearby farms,  Tarago Reservoir and Mount Baw Baw. It also passes by the Tarago River Cheese Company and farm.
